Ensuring that the content on our websites is accessible for all moms is a priority for City Mom Collective.

As such, one of our recommendations is that our Sister Sites work with our Web & Tech team to add an accessibility statement to their websites.

An Accessibility Statement is not legally required, but does reduce your risk of being sued to some degree, and is considered best practice.

Placement.  This is an External Facing / Public-Facing document for your website.

The idea would be that your Accessibility Statement be placed on your website twice

(1) Once near the very top-left of the home page, perhaps as a single-pixel or other artifact, or white text on white background, but it does not need to be visible to sighted-viewers.  The purpose of this link on the top-left of the page is so that a visually impaired user, using a screen-reader, will encounter the Accessibility Statement right away.

(2.)  And a second time, as a new stand-alone link “Accessibility Statement” on the bottom of your webpages, in the footer, perhaps right next to the “Learn More” and “Privacy” links.
