Google rank and increasing the SEO on our sites is always at the top of our minds as we work to support each of you and your businesses.
First, we always encourage all of our sites to look at your site traffic via Google Analytics, and specifically look at a year-by-year comparison. When doing this, you may actually see that your traffic hasn’t been as affected as you might think.
However, you may see that traffic is down and want to focus energy on elevating your content. We always encourage that! Here are some ideas for what you can do now in order to help elevate your content:
  1. Add Numbers To Titles + Meta Descriptions

A study recently showing that dates added to titles increased rankings for a particular brand. Specifically, dates in title tags are often a winner, February 2021. But don’t be spammy about it. Don’t include it if it doesn’t make sense and doesn’t fake it. But if you can include a number, it will often increase your click-through rate for any given query.

  2. Relaunch Old Content

This is more than just sharing from the archives, it’s utilizing content that performed well in the past and essentially rerunning it. Key is to keep the same URL. I’d also do an audit of internal and external links to ensure you aren’t linking to dead links. In some cases, you can see gains of 500% to 1,000% just by relaunching some of your old content with some updates.

  3. Increase Internal Linking By Updating Old Content With New Links

This is a step that people skip time and time again. When you publish a new blog post, publish a new piece of content, make sure you’re going back and updating your old content with those new links. So you’re not only updating your old page with fresh content and fresh links and adding relevance. You’re adding links to your new content. This also helps decrease bounce rates.

  4. Leverage Topic Clusters (I.E. Topic Series)

Don’t just launch one piece of content. Make sure you write about multiple pieces of content around the same subject and link those together. When you do that and you link them intelligently, you can increase engagement because people are reading the different articles.
